Your child will be met with love and attention, at this unique, choice-based-learning after-school.
During your child’s time with us, he/she will experience the Scandinavian values of play and structured down-time - the Danish way of learning. Studies show that we as humans cannot retain information unless we have time to process and solidify our thoughts.
At the HavenHyggeHouse After-School we start our daily time together with tea/water and a healthy snack at our communal long-table. During this time, we check in and talk briefly about our day at school. We then proceed to go to the activity we choose, this can be reading, drawing, doing homework or continuing our work with our weekly craft.
Each week we dedicate our time to a specific craft or activity that we will continue throughout the entire week, teaching and implementing the importance of “practice” and “consistency”. The crafts we make throughout the weeks will be sold at our Christmas Market in the end of the semester (we encourage the parents and families to come and purchase the beautiful end products). All proceeds will go to a charity we have chosen together as a group.
The children will have an active role in deciding which crafts/activities we do during the fall semester.
At the end of our time together for the day, we gather in a circle on the floor, again checking in and end our day together with a short meditation.
