What does Hygge [HUE-guh] mean?

The Danish word hygge is a deep gut feeling of cozy and contentment. All it takes to achieve hygge is consciousness, a certain slowness, and the ability to recognize and enjoy the present.

In Danish culture, hygge is everything. With a dark and wet environment outside, Danes care about creating cozy warmth inside their homes, within their relationships, and in their way of life. Hygge is the difference between just existing and really living. It’s the ability to notice, appreciate, and enjoy the small things.

Hygge is the feeling you get after quality time with friends, or when you walk into a warmly lit space filled with smiling faces, hot coffee in the pot, and cozy couches with pillows...a space just like HavenHyggeHouse!

A quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)
‘why not follow the Danish example and bring more hygge into your daily life?’
